Simply Be has created the Monika sandal with the help of talented ladies in small rural villages in India who have outstanding skills of hand stitching. These skilled ladies have been producing handstitched detail on insoles and outsoles for a number of years, but sadly the demand was on a decline. There are few employment opportunities for ladies in these rural communities, and the Gentlemen from the towns are generally working away in the armed forces. However the ladies are determined to support their families, be role models to the young by empowering them to work and be independent. Simply Be have teamed up with the ladies of these rural communities to create the beautifully hand crafted Monika sandal. The materials are real leather and the quality and workmanship is outstanding plus she has the added feature of a padded sock ensuring she is uber comfortable. Simply Be is happy to support a worthwhile initiative to enable these talented ladies to be engaged, employed and empowered.
