Simply Be At The Body Beautiful Exhibition
The National Museum Of Scotland unveiled the “Body Beautiful: Diversity On The Catwalk” exhibition at the end of May, which Simply Be is thrilled to be a part of! As an industry leader in providing plus size clothing to women, Simply Be was honoured to have featured in this prestigious exhibition alongside the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood and Ashish.
We are the only high street brand to be included in the exhibition alongside these high end luxury brands. We invited some key influencers along, including Felicity Hayward whose runway look was featured in the exhibit, for a private tour with exhibition curator Georgina Ripley.

This exciting exhibition discovers how today’s fashion industry is challenging perceptions and championing alternative ideals of beauty on the catwalk, in advertising, editorial and behind the camera.
This exhibition also celebrates fashion creatives who are embracing inclusivity and body positivity, exploring themes such as size, gender, age, race and disability, something that Simply Be can definitely get behind!

Our iconic T-shirts from the A/W 17 Curve Catwalk, one of which was featured in the exhibition, made a real impact and showed how every size and shape can be stylish. Increasing visibility on the catwalk of a diverse range of body types, genders, ages and races is a change we must push for, and something we at Simply Be support to it's fullest.

Tess Holliday and Felicity Hayward (above) are just some of the models proudly flying the flag for diversity on the catwalk. Proof that models come in all shapes and sizes, Tess strutted her stuff on our A/W 17 Curve Catwalk and was the first size 26 model to appear on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine last year.
" Felicity is the poster girl for body positivity, has her own clothing line "Self Love Brings Beauty" and starred in Naked Beach on channel 4, a programme designed to help everyday people love themselves and achieve body confidence, no matter their shape or size."

"Speaking recently on our "Ahead Of The Curve" discussion panel, Felicity addressed how important representation is when it comes to seeing people who look like you, and how life is too short not to love yourself. "
"She said, "Over time (my stretchmarks) just grew and grew and grew. I remember for a long time I didn’t want to go swimming or anywhere because I thought there was something wrong with me. It’s not until you see other people with them that you realize, life really is too short to worry about a mark on your stomach."

So while you’re stepping out in your swimming costumes and maxi dresses this summer, remember that EVERY body is beautiful!
