The Boot Fitting Guide: How To Measure Your Calf Size At Home
Today, we’re talking all about calves. In this guide, you’ll find essential information and tips on how to measure your calf size from home. I'm Jo, a member of the buying team here at Simply Be, and I'd like to help you better understand how to measure your calf width and talk you through our different width options, so you can find boots that fit your calves perfectly.
Why Boot Calf Width Matters
When it comes to finding the perfect pair of boots, calf width is an important factor to consider. The calf width of a boot refers to the circumference of the widest part of the calf on the leg. This measurement plays a major role in determining the fit and comfort of your boots.
If the calf width on the boot is too narrow, the wearer may be unable to zip the boot up or the boot may feel tight and uncomfortable, making it difficult to move or walk easily. On the other hand, if the calf width is too wide, the boots may be loose, fall down or fail to give you necessary support. That’s why understanding and choosing the right calf width is crucial for finding boots that fit well and feel good.
Not only does calf width affect the fit and comfort of boots, but it also has an impact on the overall appearance. The correct calf width can enhance the look of your legs and create a flattering silhouette. Whether you have narrow calves or wider calves, we have boot options to suit every unique calf width and style preference.

Measuring Your Calf For The Perfect Fit
To ensure the perfect fit, it's important to measure your calf accurately before buying new boots. Here's a simple guide to help you measure your calf:
- Sit down when you measure your calf. This will ensure the measurement is more accurate.
- Use a flexible measuring tape to measure the circumference of the widest part of your calf. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight.
- Repeat the measurement on the other calf to ensure accuracy. Then, use the biggest measurement.
- Once you have your calf measurement, you can refer to the boot calf width chart below. This chart will help you determine the appropriate calf width for your boots. Find your foot width and shoe size on the table first. Such as, D Fit (Standard), E Fit (Wide) and EEE Fit (Extra Wide). If you’re not sure on your foot width, please use our handy guide.
Our Tip: Whilst sat down, be sure to measure up the side of your leg - from the floor to the leg/shaft height stated for the boot you wish to order. Using this method, you’ll be able to see if the boot will fit comfortably under the knee and won’t be too high around the back of the knee/crease area whilst sitting down.

Why We Offer So Many Boot Calf Width Options
Just like our bodies, our calves come in different shapes and sizes. There are limited boot styles in the market that cater for diverse calf sizes and there is nothing more frustrating than finding the perfect looking pair of boots, but realising they won’t zip up your leg.
But at Simply Be, a great fit is our thing. We believe great fitting boots should be available for every body, so we offer up to 5 calf fittings within our boot range, meaning all women can find the perfect fit for them. We're committed to fit and giving every woman the confidence she needs to be the most authentic, empowered version of herself - whatever shape that may take.

Tips for Ensuring Comfort and Style
When it comes to wearing boots, comfort and style go hand in hand. Here are some tips to ensure both:
- Opt for boots with cushioned insoles or padding. This can provide extra comfort and support, whilst offering pressure point relief for your feet.
- Consider the heel height. Higher heels may put more pressure on your calves, so choose a height that you can comfortably walk in.
- Don't be afraid to experiment with different styles and designs. Finding boots that reflect your personal style can boost your overall confidence and satisfaction with your choice of footwear.
Remember, comfort and style are equally important when it comes to boots. By considering these tips, you can find boots that are not only guaranteed to fit your calf accurately, but they’re also guaranteed to get you compliments day in, day out.
